About

Located on over 400 acres of protected natural lands on the banks of the Tennessee River, the Pot Point Cabin is waiting for you. Originally built in 1835, the cabin was constructed from hand-hewn logs and planks reclaimed from flat boats wrecked on the “Boiling Pot” rapid on the Tennessee River. All guest stays help support the Tennessee River Gorge Trust. See the Tennessee River Gorge Trust (trgt.org) to find out how your stay helps this fund and for locations to incredible hiking trails, including the Pot Point Nature Trail, a 4.1-mile loop that is conveniently located directly across and next to the cabin!

In 1993, renovations were made to the original cabin that included a great room with floor to ceiling windows that provide a scenic view of the Tennessee river, an upstairs bathroom with shower, a downstairs bathroom, and a small but serviceable kitchen. The den is equipped with a smart TV with Roku and a DVD player. The spacious dining table is perfect to gather around for big meals or game nights. Additionally, there are two decks overlooking the river. Outside, guests can take advantage of the firepit. Gather some wood and huddle around the fire on a starry night. The river can be accessed by a small trail behind the house. Hikers will love this location, as there are beautiful nature trails nearby. After a full day of adventure, come home to the comforts of this modern log cabin. Make this your home away from home.

Overall

The property goes down to the river. It's a little steep and rocky going down - not accessible if handicapped or limited mobility. The riverfront area is on an incline but we were able to sit in chairs that we brought. Beautiful views of the river from the house. You cannot drink or cook with the water but they do provide a water cooler which is not advertised. The house is spacious and the kitchen is as described. Suggestions: provide folding chairs for the Riverfront, the ironing board is broken and needs to be replaced, grade the Riverfront flat

Overall, would stay again.

Overall, would stay again. The place has a very beautiful view of the Tennessee River. Very relaxing in the morning. The house truly accommodates 10 people. Plenty of space in common areas for everyone. The kitchen is small, clean but has some visible cosmetic issues. Plenty of dishes provided. The upstairs bathroom being split was very convenient. The additional heat switch option in the shower was great. Plenty of towels and linens provided. Since the water is well water and not potable, plenty of drinking water is provided (5-gallon water cooler). The bedrooms don't have closets/dressers, but armoires instead. The only minor issues was the coat closet did not have hangers, one of the armoires didn't have place to hang up clothes, and the few hangers provided were flimsy and/or randomly sourced. Not good for hanging winter coats.
